What a nice weekend! Our 60th (61st technically since we couldn’t hold it last year) class reunion was held here in Michigan over the weekend. On Friday, we met at John’s Pizza in Fenton, Michigan and the event was so successful they decided to close it down. Part of that is true. It was the last night for the current owners as they have sold it. They actually held it open an extra night for us. Saturday was the actual reunion dinner and Sunday morning we had donuts, coffee and mimosas as Sandy and Stu’s beautiful home on Lake Fenton.
Here are some pictures:
Three of our teachers are still living and two of them came Saturday. Jack Baldwin and Paul Woodring. Mr. Baldwin was my baseball coach and Mr. Woodring was my Geometry teacher. While they were wonderful teachers, I didn’t pursue a career in baseball or math. I was lucky to be seated at the table with them:
They were amazing! At age 92, really sharp. Quick, funny and with good memories. They both said they remembered me. Either they really did or were just being nice. Either way, I liked it.
Dick went into the Flint Journal archives and came up with some pictures of our basketball team:
Recognize #22? OK, if you insist here is a closeup:
I spent most of the evening showing this picture saying things like: “Wasn’t I cute? Of course, the response I was trying to elicit, was “You are still cute!”. No luck.
Here are some further pictures for my classmates to see, including Saturday at Jennie’s and Sunday morning:

Last night was a special treat for me as I had dinner with my brother Joe’s kids and grandkids in Ann Arbor. He passed away 3 years ago and I still miss him. He was 5 years older and I idolized him from the time I could remember. I wanted to go everywhere with him and his buddies. They would get ready to go into town for movies, chase girls, etc. (At least I suspected they were chasing girls, but at that age I had no idea why they would do that – I think I have now figured it out. 🙂 )
Here is Scott, Ted and Christina. Russell wasn’t able to be there:
Here are Joe’s granddaughters, and daughter: Zoe and Cara (Granddaughters) and Christina, mother of Cara and Zoe.
As promised, I will post a summary of the Route 66 trip today. Then post experiences if I think they might be of interest. I have started some research on what might be interesting on I 80 after I leave Chicago. In 2,000 miles, there much be something huh? If any of you have any ideas about what to see on I 80 from Chicago to Sacramento, I would love to get your ideas.

I think you will now get notified when I publish a new post. (Aren’t you relieved?)
This is just a test to see if it’s working. If you could let me know if it’s working, that would be appreciated and helpful. My email is John@TeamLifeCo.com.
Thanks!!

Well, I have been in Michigan at my sister’s house in Swartz Creek, Michigan. (See pictures)
On Monday, my buddies Don and Dick went to a casino in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. The purpose of our trip was to contribute to the Michigan economy, so we were successful. We have been friends since the 8th grade in Flint, Michigan. Still great friends. We are part of our group that gets together in Vegas every April. Great guys and great friends. (OK Dick, this is one of those rare occasions where I will say something positive about you). We were giving each other crap all day and stopped to ask if women do this. Our conclusion was that women don’t do this. Perhaps it’s because they are more socially mature than we are. Could that be true?
Here is Dick and Don:
We went to dinner at an Italian restaurant that night and I had the best vegetable lasagna ever! (After a week of biscuits and gravy I thought a token veggie dinner would be a good idea) Our waitress was Kathryn and she was wonderful. Here is her picture:
Yesterday I went to lunch with a small group of classmates as sort of a warmup for this weekends upcoming events for our 60 year class reunion. I didn’t take a lot of pictures but here is one of Sandy and me, one of me good friends from Mandeville H.S.:
Today, I went up to St. Helen, Michigan with Roger. He has this amazing cabin located right on a river. Amazing! Here is a picture. I told you earlier that Roger is a great guy. Here is another example. After seeing his great place I said it would be a wonderful place to bring my kids and grandkids for an end of the summer vacation. We try to do this every year but because of the pandemic didn’t do one the past two years. So when we got home, I went into the bedroom to make a call (OK, maybe a little nap too) and when I came out, he handed me a key to his cabin to use at any time.
As mentioned in my blogs several times, the highlight of my trip has been the wonderful people I meet. Here is another example. On the way up to the cabin, we stopped at a local place called Mac’s. If you are ever in Michigan and are heading up North (That’s what they say here when heading up North. 🙂 ) this restaurant is a “Don’t Miss” place. Erika and Courtney served us and they were absolutely great. The breakfast was great. I ordered some eggs and hash browns and as a side – Guess What?? Of course, biscuits and gravy. Here are pictures of Erika and Courtney and Mac’s.
On a personal note, Roger is a great guy. He treats my sister like a queen, which makes him ok in my book. Actually, her treats everyone that way. One of the really good guys I have ever known. Here is a picture of Roger and my sister Jennie:
Once again, due to the high demand of pictures of me, here is me with my sister: 🙂
I will occasionally post blogs while I am in Michigan, then probably post one each day on the way home. While I am going on I 80 from Chicago home, it won’t most likely be as interesting as Route 66, but there are certainly some things that you might want me to see on the way don’t you think? So check the blog periodically to see if I have posted anything worth reading.
As written earlier, I am working on a summary of the Route 66 trip that will be posted as soon as it’s finished. The task is to try to cover as much as I can, especially the people I met, and keep it interesting and not too long.
OK, there are no new entries in the contest to name my Vette, so I need to decide on a name. Right now I have a front runner but don’t want to tell you yet. It would be cool if I could get a vanity plate with the name on it. The task there is to get the name down to 7 characters to fit on the plate. Right now, the only one that would fit is IONAVET. Now, I am not saying that one is a winner yet, but it would fit. If those of you that submitted names want to send some ideas as to how to get the names down to 7 characters, I will consider them.

This is a post that describes the last day of my trip on Route 66 specifically, but not the end of my trip or blog. After all, I do have to drive home to California! (While my plan was sort of day to day, I did plan on driving home after getting here 🙂 )So I plan to keep the blog going until I return home at the end of the month.
After publishing this post, I will start work on a summary of the trip and post that when it’s done. That might take a couple of days as I covered a lot of miles, (3,420) saw a lot of historic sites, and met a ton of amazing people!
Look at this!
I started here:
And made it here yesterday: It took 13 days from when I started out on Santa Monica Blvd and Ocean Blvd in Santa Monica and ended at the end of E. Adams in Chicago. (From there I drove to Flint, Michigan and am now staying at my sister Jennie’s house)
Of course, technically I did it backwards as officially Route 66 starts in Chicago and ends in Santa Monica, but in doing my exhaustive research, I learned that Route 66 goes both ways! (Side note: As I was standing by the sign in Chicago, a nice couple came up taking pictures and of course I shared my experience. They told me that next September they are doing the trip from Chicago to Santa Monica but with a tour. They were from Sacramento! Some sort of symmetry there huh? After I walked away I realized that for one of the rare occasions I didn’t get their picture. Darn.
Actually, however, I learned on my trip that Route 66 started in Springfield Missouri:
In addition to being the birthplace of Route 66, it was also the location of the first drive through restaurant in the world:
Pretty good photography on my part huh? OK, I copied this off the internet, but although the restaurant has moved, a replica of the sign is still there. I took my own picture but can’t get it to upload. Later.
As posted earlier, I got to Chicago on Saturday night and checked into the Cambria Hotel. I thought it was within a few miles of the Route 66 sign but it turned out to be less than 1/2 mile. The hotel was wonderful and located right in the heart of the Theater District in the Chicago Loop. It’s called Block 37 and an amazing place. Shelby and I are staying there for 3 nights next week. She is flying to Michigan and will drive with me to Chicago where she will fly home to Sacramento after 3 days and I will head out (All alone again (: ) on I 80.
The Cambria Hotel is located right next door to the theater (Is it theater or theatre?). What a cool area. When I arrived Saturday night the streets were just full of people. Lots were wearing masks, which was good to see. The only new picture of a person I took was Rhonda, the security person for the hotel. And, like so many other, was so nice to me. Here is Rhonda:
Speaking of masks, it was really interesting observing how different the states were concerning masks. I wrote earlier of Santa Fe and how strict they were. Then, for the rest of the way, most areas were either lax about masks or have governors who openly oppose mask mandates. Chicago has a mandate in place, as does Sacramento, so I started and ended in places where masks were being worn. In between, there were places where I sort of stood out by wearing a mask.
OK, look for my summary and new chapter in a day or so.
Once again, feel free to email me at John@TeamLifeCo.com with comments, questions, suggestions. With a couple of exceptions, I don’t have any contact information for the people I met so you will need to contact me first. (I know you are all just dying to stay in touch with me and I don’t want to disappoint anyone. 🙂 )

I am just a couple of miles from the end of Route 66. Technically it’s called the start, but of course at started at the end in Santa Monica. Right now I am writing this in my room at the Cambria Hotel at 4:30 A.M. on Sunday as, once again, I couldn’t sleep with the pain. Pain can really make a person productive huh? (Just like hair, sleep is overrated. 🙂 )
By the way, this is a fabulous hotel. It’s right in the theater district in the Chicago Loop. Great service and a beautiful facility.
While checking in with Louise, a nice young couple overheard me and here is their picture with Louise. They are Amber and Robert from Valencia, CA, which is really close to Santa Monica. They are here on their anniversary. Someone is watching their kids for them she said. It was a nice welcome to Chicago.
So, here is what happened today. After leaving the Big Chair, I headed East on Route 66 for a long time. However, there was not much that I was interested in seeing between Cuba and Chicago. The feedback that I received from most of the people that I crossed paths with that were heading West, indicated there was nothing too exciting, so I decided to just drive on to Chicago to spend the night.
Tomorrow morning I will continue on to the very end of Route 66 and get some pictures of the sign. (Because of the high demand for more pictures of me, I will have someone take some of the sign and me.) 🙂 Then when I get to my sister’s house in Michigan tomorrow I will post those and do a summary of my trip. First, though, I have to go to a Best Buy and get a charger from my computer as I left it at the Wagon Wheel. On my first night of the trip I left my phone charger, so this was a good bookend I guess. I think I must have some sort of mental flaw that causes me to leave important things in motels!
Right now, I am going to try to go back to sleep rather than summarize the trip as I would like to put some real thought into it. It’s been an amazing two weeks!
I’m still not sure if everyone’s replies are getting posted, so if you want to reply to me directly, again feel free to email me at John@TeamLifeCo.com.

The pictures from yesterday finally posted. I will post them here and then do a new post.
Bill and Janet, the nice couple from South Carolina that made me the pimento cheese sandwich and were so very nice to me:
Lynn from Marshfield MO that liked my car.
Lynn
Sandy from gift shop.
Sandy from gift shop
Jessica took this one to show what it might have looked like 60 years ago if Jerry and I had done the trip. A few differences of course, such as Jerry still has the same hair. (Hair is so overrated!)
Jessica from Cracker Barrell that was go great! (And some guy)
Jerry and Jessica
OK, I think everyone mentioned in my post yesterday now has a picture here.
So, on the way out of town I had to go see the World’s Largest Rocking Chair in Cuba. Bill and Janet were there, so that was an extra treat to get to see them again.
Here is a picture of the chair and of Kaylee and Carmen, two charming young ladies that sold me my souvenir. (One one, really!)
Also, pictures of the Wagon Wheel Motel.

I didn’t post yesterday and I spent the day and evening meeting so many wonderful people that I want to tell you about. While I am enjoying every aspect of this trip, I could skip all the historical sites and still love this trip because of the people I am meeting. So here goes:
This is Becky. What a wonderful woman. She manages the breakfast at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Springfield Missouri. I have stayed in Choice Hotels most of the way and this was the friendliest, most helpful staff so far. Becky in particular. When I walked into the breakfast room at 6:30 for my daily biscuits and gravy. :), she greeted me with a lot of enthusiasm and friendliness. We ended up talkin a lot about different things and I just loved the whole time with her. If I ever go through Springfield again, I definitely will stay there.
This is Becky’s husband and son, Jerry and Kenneth. They came in to pick Becky up at the end of their shift and we had a nice talk. In particular, Jerry told me Springfield was the birthplace of Route 66 and directed me to the exact locations. You can see the pictures. Thanks so much Jerry, as I didn’t know this was the birthplace and would have missed it.
Birthplace sign:
Here is a picture of Lynn that lives in Marshfield Missouri. I met her while putting gas in my car. She loved my Corvette. (Love my Corvette, get your picture on my blog)
The Route 66 road is in great shape out of Springfield for a long way so I took it. It parallels the freeway most of the time and obviously you end up at the same place whether you are taking 66 of the freeway. So I took it to my next destination and this was/is another amazing experience.
But, before I tell you about where I stayed, I have to show you a picture of the World’s Largest Gift Shop (Picture to come). Of course, I bought a few REALLY important items. I also took a picture of Sandy, another really nice person I met. (Doesn’t she have a great smile? She recently had rotator cuff surgery caused by throwing a ball. She had 9 grandkids! So I guess she has to stay in shape. If I remember correctly, she is originally from California.
I stayed at the Wagon Wheel Motel last night and am writing this from my room. Here is information on it: https://www.wagonwheel66cuba.com/ Here is a picture of Connie, the owner, and Charlie, her partner: (As I am writing this some of the pictures are still uploading so I will publish this and add pictures tonight)
When I checked in, Connie and I sat and had a glass of wine and talked for a long time. She and Charlie work their butts off as it’s difficult to find people to help. If you ever do Route 66, you have to stop here. By the way, she has a gift shop, which scares Paula every time I tell her I am going into one.
Again, I met some more really nice people. Bill and Janet checked in when I did and after I had my conversation with Connnie, I headed to my room and they were eating dinner and invited me to join them. Janet asked if I like pimento cheese sandwiches and made me one. It was great! I had them as a kid a lot in Missouri so this brought back great memories. We had a great conversation and stayed out pretty late out in the beautiful park like setting. They are from South Carolina and traveling West, the opposite of me. (Bill and Janet I will also add your pictures tonight after they upload)
Then, I had a really special surprise treat. On the way to Cuba I called Dick Cottrell of one my best friends since 8th grade and asked him where Jerry Tebo lived. I knew it was Missouri but had no idea how far away it might be. Jerry and I lived on the same street from 8th grade through high school. We played football, basketball and baseball together in high school. As it turned out, Jerry lives in Union, Missouri about 39 miles from the Wagon Wheel. So I called him and we had breakfast this morning at the Cracker Barrell in Sullivan, about 17 miles East. Boy, that is an interesting place! It is a meat and potatoes place man. I have been eating biscuits and gravy for several days as I have mentioned ad decided to order some oatmeal or serial. Nope. Not one thing like that on the menu. So I had a sampler place and sort of nibbled at: Eggs, grits (what the hell are grits anyway), several types of fried pig, some sort of potato thing (At least it sort of looked and tasted like potatoes, and of course a SIDE of biscuits and gravy. After about 5 morning of eating biscuits and gravy at the Choice hotels, I was not about to eat anymore. (OK, I only ate half of them) Oh, they had an almost healthy baked apple thing. But of course it was drowning in some sort of sugary stuff.
Becky, your breakfast yesterday was 100 times better than the Cracker Barrell! It was awful. The eggs, which I ordered over easy were fried so stiff I could barely cut them. (I really didn’t eat them).
But I am so happy we went to the Cracker Barrell because I met Jessica. I wanted to get some pictures of Jerry and me and she immediately obliged and we went out by my car. She took a lot of time with us and was just a delight. So cheerful, outgoing, and engaging. She has an RN degree but hasn’t taken the boards and gotten her license yet. I told her she should come to California where nurses make really big bucks.
So, Bill and Janet, Lynn, Sandy, Jerry, Jessica, check the site later tonight and your pictures will be there.
Also, I am now heading out to take pictures here in Cuba, as there are so cool things to see.
And then I need to decide how far I am going to go today. St. Louis is only about 80 miles from here but I don’t want to stay there. This trip is not about big cities, it’s about the little towns and used to be towns, but mostly about the people I meet in those towns. So, you will know tonight of course where I am.
Oh, and don’t worry about me. My kids made me put a 360 app on my phone so they know where I am at all times. (Not sure about my wisdom there. 🙂 )

10 Sep, 2021
I am typing this in Springfield, MO at 5:45 AM, on Friday, September 10th. On a personal note, my arthritis pain must have some sort of alarm system, as I wake up right at 3 A.M. every morning these days. I told Paula yesterday when that happens I start to think about the past day and the day coming up. So, after about an hour lying there, I thought it would be more productive to get up, finish my post from yesterday, and get my planning done for today’s leg.
Well, yesterday had some great moments, but I missed a lot of things to see in Oklahoma, as I will explain. This is a picture of Loretta. She runs the Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum in Sapulpa, OK. She was the highlight of my day.
So, I think everyone reading my blog has a pretty good idea of my love affair with my Corvette. I baby her and am careful where I park, etc. At home, I have an unlimited car wash deal and she gets washed almost every day.
Well, I pulled into the parking space at the museum and there was a cement thing that was too high and I ran the front of my car into it. (You can see a picture of it in the picture of Loretta) I got out and looked and it appeared the bottom was scratched pretty bad. You can imagine how I felt. This could have ruined my day, but it was saved by Loretta. I went into the museum and met Lorretta and told her what happened. She then told me she had some stuff that just might fix it. So we went outside, and she got down and rubbed out the scratches as they were just surface. What a great experience for me. Here is a picture of her in the museum and also working on my car.
She was very knowledgeable about Oklahoma and Route 66 and gave me great tips. Loretta was born in France and her first language is French. Not exactly what you would expect from an “Oakie” huh. 🙂
This of course totally made my day and sort of saved my trip as I would have beat myself up for the rest of the trip if I had really damaged my Vette. But, now the bad news. She told me Oklahoma had hundreds of drivable miles on Route 66, so I started out with the goal of staying on it for a long way. I drove through Sapulpa and stopped to wash my car. Have I mentioned before the car has a high definition camera in front so I can record a 180 degree range at any time. So I filmed my trip through the town. However, at some point I made a wrong turn and got off Route 66 accidentally. I kept driving, thinking I was still on Route 66 for a long way. Finally, the road I was on ended, which gave me the clue I had gone the wrong way.
Bottom line of this story. I wasted over 2 hours getting back to Route 66 and I-44. My kids and Paula made me promise I would not drive while tired, so it was necessary to mostly stay on I-44 to get to my hotel in Springfield before dark as I was already tired, due to the 3 A.M. wakeup call I get every morning mentioned earlier. Loretta, thanks for all your help and I feel badly I missed so much of the Oklahoma sites. But this won’t be the last trip I ever take on Route 66 and the next time I will focus on Oklahoma.
Loretta saving my day!!
By the way, you can see I am putting the pictures in line with the narrative. Paula, thanks for the suggestion. I think my blog will be really improved with your idea.
Here are pictures of some nice toll workers. Oklahoma has toll roads and when you stop off in some of the towns you have to pay another small toll.
Here is Karen. Her daughter is an actress that lives in Jamestown, CA. I think Karen said her daughter’s name is Lalani Hollywood?
Here is Alex and Regina. I was actually on the phone with Paula when I passed through Regina’s booth.
Regina
Alex
OK, finally, here is an update on the name my Vette contest. Here are the submissions so far:
Ken Nielsen: Marilyn Merlot
Kerri Nigro: Iona Vette
Brad Boyer: The Burgundy Bombshell; The Burgundy Rocket; Ruby The Rocket
Brayden Rivas: Phoenix66 (Combination of the Red Phoenix Bird from Harry Potter and Route 66); Dust Devil since he knows my tires are hitting the dust every day.
Zailyne Rivas: Lightning McQueen from the Cars movie
Ashley Rivas: Clifford The Big Red Car (I must have red that book to Shelby 100 times Ashley:)
OK, breakfast is now being served downstairs, so I’m done for now. Today should be fun as there is a lot to do around Springfield and between here and St. Louis.

Boy, where to start? Well, actually I do know. I was in Amarillo at Comfort Suites and they have breakfast. So, naturally since I was in Texas they of course had biscuits and gravy! My favorite breakfast meal.
One of the places on all the Route 66 maps is the Cadillac Ranch. Last night I was pretty tired so I passed it up, so I backtracked this morning and you will see the pictures.
Well, after breakfast I found it and took some great pictures.
I found the Cadillac Ranch and you will see the pictures later. It’s really not that big of a deal unless you find bunch of Cadillacs buried in the ground to be interesting. It was actually pretty interesting. They are all painted with Graffiti, and at first I thought maybe the owners would be upset by that. But they actually sell cans of spray paint on the way in, so talk about adapting.
As I have written a bunch of times, the best part of this trip is meeting so many nice people. So today I will start with Slater and Bronson (Bronson is actually a dog but he was still great) Slater and Bronson are traveling all the way from Massachusetts to California where Slater’s Dad’s lives. And get this: They are traveling in a 1950 Ford. Slater and Bronson were great. (Bronson is named after Charles Bronson) They were just leaving Cadillac Ranch when I arrived and I ended up having a great conversation with them. As you will see, Bronson is a beautiful dog. (Makes me miss Buddy!)
The next stop was in Shamrock, Texas and that was an amazing experience. If any of you have ever seen The Last Picture Show, Sybil Shepard’s first movie, this town could have been the town where that was filmed. It wasn’t, but very similar. Actually, I stopped to go into a Rexall drugstore to buy some shaving cream, only to learn the only thing remaining of the store was the sign. I was hungry and looked across the street and saw a sign for local Mexican food and decided to give it a try. So glad I did! First of all, the chicken tacos were great! But, more importantly, I met Christina (the waitress), Perla (the cook) and Marisol (the owner). If you ever travel Route 66 you have to eat at Jumping Leprechaun Mexican Restaurant. Chirstina is from Fresno and she and her husband came to Shamrock 8 years ago for him to work in the oilfields. They really like it there and plan on staying there. I asked her if maybe housing prices were less than in California and get this: They recently bought a 3 bedroom house for $20,000!
Marisol told me a really interesting story about an antique shop in town that had a piano that she really wanted, but it was too much money. But the store was closing and the owner kept dropping the price. So one day Marisol finally decided to go buy it but when she walked in two men were taking it out as they had just bought it. While they were moving it, a paper dropped out of it. The guy picked it up, looked it over, and told the owner he would give her $20 for it. Of course she took the money. Later, Marisol walked into the store and the lady was crying hysterically. As it turned out the paper was the original recipe for Dr. Pepper and the guy sold it at auction in Dallas for $500,000! I asked if he came back and shared some of it with the owner but he did not. What a jerk huh? Marisol said she didn’t have any regrets because she would not have known what the paper was anyway.
Christina told me that a part of the movie Cars was filmed at the gas station down the street. OK, Cars was animated but I learned they film actual locations and then convert them to animated.
Christina is looking forward to showing the blog to her little girl and thinks she will say “Look, Mommy’s on TV”
So I went to the station and got a lot of pictures, but more importantly, met some more nice people. Patsy and Betty work in the souvenir shop (What are the odds that maybe I bought some? OK, just a couple) They were so cute. After I took their picture, Patsy said to Betty, “I think I will bring in that thing, what do you call it?” Betty said “It’s called a tablet.” Patsy said, “Oh yes, that’s what it is, I will bring that in so we can see our picture.”
While browsing through the souvenir section (Well, a little more than brousing), I met Chad and Jenna Bird. Jenna is Chads beautiful daughter. They are part of a caravan across the country to raise money and awareness for a cancer cure. Good luck you guys. You are doing good work! They were driving a 66 Mustang convertible, which I have a picture of.
Again, if you ever do the Route 66 trip, you MUST stop and spend time in Shamrock, Texas. Nice, nice people (Of course I have found that everywhere)
The next stop (OK, rather that bathroom breaks for a 78 year old) was in Elk City at the Route 66 museum. As I was getting out of my car, a man walked up and asked what year my Corvette is. As it turned out he owns a C7, the same color as mine. (Corvettes are numbered by the year manufactured. For example, my 1974 was a C3, the new 2022 is a C8. (Are you just absolutely hanging onto everyone of my words about how Corvettes are classified?) The couple was Ron and Nadine from Ohio, making the trip the opposite direction. Really nice couple. Get this: Their daughter called while we were talking and Ron said she went to Adrian College in Michigan. Well, I went to Adrian College in 1966 to play basketball! Just for one semester. The coach told me I was just one digit off from being a star. He said if I was 6 feet 10 inches instead of 5 feet 10 inches I would have been great. 🙂 So I went home after one semester to Flint and 10 years later finally got my degree at Eastern Michigan. (Remember the woman I met at the Grand Canyon that also graduated from Eastern Michigan? Aren’t you just totally fascinated by all these details of my personal history?)
So, one of the reasons I stopped there to begin with, was a sign that said there was the biggest Route 66 sign in the world. Here are some pictures of that. Now, I have to comment on their brag about the WORLD’S largest Route 66 sign. Are there Route 66 signs in Europe, China, Australia? Wouldn’t a more accurate description say the largest Route 66 sign, ONE ROUTE 66? It’s sort of how Major League Baseball calls their championship the World Series, when only American teams are playing. But, actually who cares huh?
I went into the Route 66 museum and it wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. Except, it had some really great souvenirs. Now, while as you know I normally don’t like to buy souvenirs, I bought a few here. Once I figure out how to load the pictures properly you will see the really cool things I bought there. (Really, they are cool, not like the crap that tourists normally buy. 🙂 ) But, Paula, I really needed some more T shirts and hats.
You will also see a picture of Maxine, the nice lady at the Museum that took my money.
If I don’t figure out how to upload the pictures properly tonight, I will do it later tomorrow. (I just figured it out at 4:23 A.M. so all the pictures are here now.)
Just a little side note about something I saw today that I thought was clever was a sign for an automobile brake service. The sign said: :BRAKING Bad? call us. I have never seen the TV show Breaking Bad but I loved how clever this was.
OK, update on the contest to name my Corvette. The response has just been overwhelming as one entry has poured in. One of our clients, Kerri Nigro, has suggested Iona Vette. Get it? Not bad Kerri. At this point you are in first place. (And second, third, etc.) So come on people, give Kerri some competition for that big $50 Visa card! I do like the name though Kerri. I wonder if I could get license plate with that on it?
OK, it’s now 4:51 A.M. so I should get back to bed for a couple of hours of sleep before heading out to my next adventure. No idea right now where I am going today but will post the results when I get there.
